Matt Estey, LCSW-S

Outpatient Clinical Director

Matt has worked in a variety of treatment programs since 2003. He started off working in a non-profit therapeutic wilderness with adjudicated youth and foster children and that experience changed the trajectory of my life. He spent 12 years working at the Menninger Clinic in Houston and had the opportunity to start a new program with them called Menninger 360 as well as work on all of their inpatient units and community integration program, Pathfinder. Matt and his husband moved to Austin in 2021 to start a business that was a labor of love and when they had to close that in the Summer of 2024, Matt had the opportunity to start working at Driftwood Recovery. He has launched new outpatient programming and reconnected with many old friends he worked with years ago at the Menninger Clinic.

As the Outpatient Clinic Director Matt oversees our CIP Integration Program, Intensive Outpatient Programming, and has launched a new community integration program: The Life Integration Team

Matt learned in wilderness that he feels most alive and connected when he lives by his values, compassion and curiosity. Working at Driftwood allows him to engage those values on a daily basis.

Outside of a therapeutic setting Matt enjoys running, swimming, hiking, reading, art/poetry, time with friends and dogs!

“We are what we repeatedly do, excellence then, is not a virtue but a habit.”
